Originally developed in the later 60's with materials that were too heavy for tents, the Greenland jacket made its debut on an expedition to Greenland itself. The jacket proved to be an extremely rugged piece of apparel and has now been part of the Fjällräven collection for almost half-a-century, certifying itself as a classic. This extremely hard-wearing jacket has garnered a reputation for its construction, which utilizes the wind and water-resistant G-1000 Original with double layers of fabric over the shoulders and yoke. G-1000 original effectively allows moisture ventilation and can be impregnated with Greenland Wax, increasing its weather protective properties and lifespan, which is why there are so many Greenland Jacket's still in existence today.
