  Great Jacket!

  Used this for about a quarter of the reason this year and love it. Lightweight and very waterproof. I’m looking forward to seeing how well it does in the coming seasons!

  Bought XL for a bit of a looser fit and layering underneath. 6'0", ~190 lbs, athletic build. Size L was a bit tight around shoulders/armpits and I wanted this shell for layering as I have an older arcteryx that is a bit more slim fitting already. Overall probably runs a bit smaller than the stated size as this is the only XL piece I own. Sleeve length a bit on the longer side but works well with the velcro cuff or with mitts/gloves. Definitely on the lighter side but no issues with warmth when layered properly. Main zipper is a bit sticky to get started but otherwise ok. The exterior pockets are easy to access and usable, extra ventilation through them as well. Could have used a larger interior pouch. Very light, mobile, waterproof so far. Very happy with it. Only downside is that it accidentally matched the colour scheme for all the ski instructors at my local hill and it looks like I work there hah.

  Breathable shell

  I also have the outdoor research skytour 2 ascentshell jacket. The carbide fits a little bit tighter than the skytour in the same size. However I found the skytour torso to be slightly oversized, and I have a beer belly. I’m 6’ 235lbs with broad shoulders 38” pants with a beer belly. The carbide XXL fits perfect with a small puffer underneath. The Carbide is also a lighter weight material and feels totally unrestricting even over puffer. Also seems quite breathable. That’s the most important thing for me as I tend to sweat when nobody else does. Better than all my other (5 or 6) shells for breathablity and comfort. Goretex is like wearing a garbage bag compared to this. Vents can be difficult to close while wearing it however.

  Good shell for ski

  Its very good choice if you dont want to spend more than 300 dollars to have a shell. I use this with a mid-layer to ski even if the temperature is -5 to -10.

  Belle découverte Je suis vraiment satisfait de cette coquille. Produit de qualité Bien pensé et bien confectionné. Pour moi, l'aération aux esselles est un "must" et celui-ci a deux fermetures éclaires, ce qui permet d'ajuster l'aération comme on le souhaite..
