  This is my first jump into the (somewhat) "super shoe". As a general training shoe and for workouts they have been great - light, comfortable, responsive, reasonable fit. The length and width, for me, are true to Hoka sizing (I also run in 8. 5 Clifton’s and Rincon’s and the 8. 5 Mach X 2 seems the same). So far, my only (slightly) negative comments are that they aren’t the easiest to pull on as there is no hook/tab on the heal and there is a bit of slippage in the heal when running (I think it is more of a sensation than the shoe actually slipping and not gripping).

  I have the cielo x1, this is a great companion for speed/ shorter distances (9-14km maybe) or a race day half shoe. No issues with the heal after 30km, great rocker and PEBA midsole. Snug but not super narrow, perfect for speed sessions.

  These shoes are perfect for speed training. Super light and propulsive. I did not notice any heel issues and maybe long socks may help with this

  Bad Heel Scraping

  I should have listened to reviews that said these sneakers wreak havov on the back of your foot. There is no cushion at the back of the sneakers and the shape of my foot scrapes and caused blisters. Did a 10 km run and a 50 minute tempo run before tapping out. For those with a different foot structure, these would be great.

  Première chaussure de course qui me fait aussi mal!!!! Le talon ne tient pas vraiment et le devant est si bas et étroit. . . bref, je suis très déçue :(

  Easily a 5/5 if the heel construction were better

  I thought I didn’t like the colour, but I found myself looking in a mirror about to for a run in teal shorts and an orange top… Needless to say, it’s grown on me. I love everything about these shoes with the exception of the construction concerning the heel. I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading other reviews… but blisters occurred after just 6km. Now, there is usually some breaking in period, but I believe this may be more of a development of callous kind of situation. I use duct tape religiously for rollerblading as it’s a seasonal activity. So, I just applied the same thing here. A small strip horizontally over a small strip vertically and it’s all good! At least up to 10km so far as well as for increasing tempo sprints. Very lightweight, good rest of upper quality and extremely breathable! Stable and springy in all the right ways; great for mid-sole & heel strikers - my arthritis has caused me to become the latter. A quality but pointless shoe at lower speeds - the results are telling in the 5min/km or less range. Runs slightly smaller than true to size, but not enough to size up. If you’re between two sizes, as I am, go for the larger one. I did not… however, the material has been forgiving - again, with the exception of the heel. I would have exchanged, but my job keeps me too busy, and jogging is my relief. I’ve only gone for about 5-6 runs in them so far, and will happily edit this to reflect any changes for better or worse. Altitude Sports is fast and secure in delivery, as always.
